About the Program

The program supports young people, especially young women, to access dignified and fulfilling job opportunities. This program supports small enterprises with high growth potential by providing capital and tailored technical assistance to help businesses achieve sustainability.

The program aims to bridge the financing gap for micro small and medium-sized enterprises in Kenya. The program integrates grassroots mobilization, digital-based concessional loans and both in-person and digital technical assistance. Technical assistance support is in two levels: pre-lending and post-lending training and support. Pre-lending is meant to assist the enterprises in becoming investment-ready, through entrepreneurship training that includes financial literacy, digital literacy, record keeping, budgeting, business planning, life skills, etc. Post lending support to the enterprise seeks to mitigate against operational risks or pursuing growth and expansion opportunities that enable the business to move into higher growth and thereby maximizing impact.

The program targets young women and men’s businesses, addressing challenges such as limited business skills, networks and access to financial resources.

This program commenced in November 2022 and will run until 2027.
